Death toll in India's Assam flooding rises to 32

NEW DELHI – The death toll in ongoing floods in India's northeastern state of Assam has risen to 32, officials said Monday. 

According to officials the flood scenario in the state continues to remain grim. Over 63,000 people still remain affected by the floods across the five inundated districts. 

"The death toll in the ongoing flooding has rose to 32," a local government official said. 
The authorities have set up 26 relief camps and distribution centres in the affected districts to reach out to the people. 

Reports said India's home minister Rajnath Singh has assured Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal of all assistance. 

The Meteorological department officials have predicted more rains in the days to come. Floods are an annual occurrence in Assam during the monsoon season. Enditem
