Senior Justice Malla Stresses Need for Continuous Dialogue Between Bar and Bench for Judicial Reform

Kathmandu. Senior Justice Sapana Pradhan Malla has stated that continuous dialogue between the 'Bar and Bench' is essential to maintain public trust in the judiciary and for institutional reform.

Addressing the National Conference of Women Lawyers in Bhaktapur on Friday, she announced the continuation of dialogue between the Bar and Bench starting from Chaitra 18, expressing confidence that this would help remove obstacles in the dispensation of justice.

Admitting that the court is currently going through a complex situation and crisis management plan, she emphasized the need to establish a people-centric justice system. Commenting on the questions often raised regarding judicial appointments, she stated that appointments should be transparent, based on merit, and free from political interference.

Justice Malla expressed dissatisfaction that despite the increasing participation of women in the justice sector, their competence is frequently questioned. She noted that while the competence of male judges or lawyers is rarely questioned, women have to prove their capability every single day.
