Department of Industry Issues Ultimatum to Nepali Firms Over Trademark Infringement Allegations

The Department of Industry has intensified its actions regarding complaints filed against Nepali industries for allegedly matching names and logos with world-renowned multinational companies.

The Department issued a public notice on Sunday, giving an ultimatum of seven days for 11 Nepali industries named in the complaints to appear with a written response.

The Department stated that it was compelled to issue a public notice because, despite previously sending letters requesting written responses to the addresses of the concerned industries, no response has been received to date, nor have reports of service of summons been obtained.

'You are hereby notified to appear with documentary evidence and submit a written response to the legal branch of the Department within 7 days, excluding travel time, from the date of publication of this notice,' the Department's notice mentioned. The Department also warned that if a written response is not received within the stipulated deadline, legal action will proceed according to the law, and no subsequent complaints will be entertained.
