Ride-Sharing Driver Arrested for Allegedly Abusing Female Passenger in Kathmandu

Kathmandu. A driver for the ride-sharing platform Yango has been arrested on allegations of misbehaving with a service recipient. The arrested individual has been identified as Kumar Shrestha, a resident of Kshitrapati, Kathmandu Metropolitan City-32.

A video showing him using abusive language towards a female passenger on the street has gone viral on social media. SP Manohar Bhatt of the Valley Crime Investigation Office told Ratopati that Shrestha engaged in indecent behavior with the passenger in a public place on February 26 while she was trying to travel from Balaju, Kathmandu Metropolitan City Ward No-26, to Kadhaghari.

SP Bhatt informed that the accused was arrested from Teku on Sunday and sent to the Balaju Police Circle for further investigation and action. The dispute reportedly began over the distance from Balaju to Kadhaghari, after which the accused used abusive language against the passenger in a public area.
