Election Commission Clarifies Update of Nepali Congress Central Committee Records Based on Law

Kathmandu. The Election Commission has clarified that the details of the office bearers and members of the Central Committee elected from the special general convention of the Nepali Congress have been updated in the Commission's records in accordance with the Constitution of Nepal and the law.

In a statement issued by the Commission's Joint Secretary and Spokesperson Narayan Prasad Bhattarai on Monday, the Commission noted that it has drawn attention to the comments made in the public media interpreting the decision made by the Commission in accordance with the Political Parties Act, 2073, the concerned party's statute, and other prevailing laws.

The Commission stated that it respects the writ petition filed in the respected Supreme Court regarding this matter, as per the right of the dissatisfied party to seek legal remedy, and that the Commission's decision will be tested by the respected Supreme Court.

The Commission has drawn the attention of the concerned parties not to make or allow baseless criticisms through public media without considering the established principles of law, legal provisions, and human dignity regarding decisions made by a constitutional body and matters under judicial review.

The Commission has also requested all stakeholders not to believe fabricated and baseless claims regarding the Commission's adherence to the law and the work it has carried out.
