Drone Debris Sparks Fire at Oil Facility in Russia's Krasnodar Region

A fire broke out at an oil facility in the Krasnodar region in southern Russia, local authorities reported, according to Reuters. The blaze was reportedly caused by falling drone debris. Initial information suggests there were no casualties in the incident that occurred on Sunday.

According to officials, the fire started when pieces of a drone, which was shot down in the sky, fell onto the oil facility. The affected oil center is said to be near Tikhoretsk.

This area has previously been targeted by drone attacks. Last Thursday, a Ukrainian drone attacked an oil pumping station in Tikhoretsk. The fire from that attack was brought under control only on Friday.

Officials have not clarified whether the facility damaged in the latest incident is the same location or a different one. The Tikhoretsk hub is considered one of the largest oil hubs in Southern Russia. It is the main route for supplying petroleum products to the major Black Sea port of Novorossiysk.
