Rastriya Swatantra Party Discussing Balen Shah as Parliamentary Party Leader

Kathmandu. The Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) has indicated that internal informal discussions are underway to select senior leader Balendra Shah (Balen) as the party's parliamentary leader.

Spokesperson Manish Jha stated that preparations are being made to amend the statute through a central committee meeting soon to elect Shah as the parliamentary party leader.

Responding after the secretariat meeting on Sunday, Spokesperson Jha said, 'We have to wait for the central committee meeting to move forward with the process of amending the statute for the selection of the RSP parliamentary party leader.' He added, 'We are discussing this internally and informally.'

RSP also mentioned that procedural matters must be completed to decide on the party leader, and currently, the presence of some party leaders is mandatory to complete that process. 'We are waiting because we need the presence of some leaders to move this matter forward procedurally, and we have to wait because the leaders are delayed due to health reasons,' Jha said. 'We are responsible for consensus and have not forgotten our commitment, so there should be no apprehension that something might go slightly awry.'

RSP had contested the election by promoting Balen as the future Prime Minister.
