US Military Strikes Iranian Targets on Kharg Island, Oil Infrastructure Spared

Tehran. The US military announced on Friday night that it had launched a military strike on Iran's main oil export hub, Kharg Island, according to information shared by the US Central Command on social media on Saturday.

According to the military command, US forces attacked more than 90 Iranian military targets located on Kharg Island. It was stated that oil-related structures were kept safe and undamaged during the attack.

It was reported that naval ammunition storage sites, missile storage bunkers, and many other military structures were destroyed in the attack. Kharg Island is located about 25 kilometers off the coast of Iran in the Persian Gulf, and approximately 90 percent of Iran's crude oil exports pass through this island.

US President Donald Trump wrote on social media stating that the attack had "completely destroyed" the military targets. He warned that if shipping traffic through the Strait of Hormuz is obstructed, oil structures on Kharg Island would also be targeted.

Meanwhile, Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi warned that any attack on Iran's oil and energy infrastructure would be met with a response against regional structures associated with American companies.
