Election Commission Reports 4.7% Invalid Votes in Recent Federal Parliament Election

Kathmandu. The Election Commission has stated that 4.7 percent of votes were invalidated in the Federal Parliament election held on Falgun 21. According to Kul Bahadur GC, Assistant Spokesperson for the Commission, this volume of invalid votes occurred in both the First-Past-the-Post and Proportional Representation electoral systems.

According to him, the invalid vote percentage in the Federal Parliament election held in Mangsir 2079 BS was 5.06 percent, while the invalid vote percentage in the 2074 Federal Parliament election was 5.18 percent.

In the Second Constituent Assembly election held on Mangsir 4, 2070 BS, 4.96 percent of votes were invalidated. Similarly, in the first Constituent Assembly election held on Chaitra 28, 2064 BS, 5.15 percent of votes were invalidated.

According to the Commission, the current election saw a lower average invalid vote rate compared to the previous five elections.
