Irrigation Woes Resolved for Farmers in Kanchanpur's Shuklaphanta Municipality

Kanchanpur. The long-standing irrigation shortage problem faced by farmers in Shuklaphanta Municipality-3, Kanchanpur, has been resolved.

Local farmers have gained access to irrigation facilities after the Water Resources and Irrigation Development Division Office, Dhangadhi, installed an artesian (tube well) boring system. Previously, the lack of a reliable irrigation system forced locals to leave their fields barren. The project, implemented at a cost of NPR 4 million, aims to provide irrigation facilities to approximately 60 bighas of land.

"Previously, farmers had to draw water from streams and rivers using pump sets for irrigation," said Narendra Prasad Chaudhary, Ward Chairman of Ward No. 3, adding, "This incurred significant expenses, putting farmers under financial strain."

Local farmer Mohan Chaudhary stated that the installation of the boring system has freed them from the cumbersome process of drawing water from streams and rivers for irrigation. The boring installation is set to directly benefit more than 300 farmers in this area.
