Thailand Summons Iranian Ambassador Over Attack on Bulk Carrier Near Strait of Hormuz

Bangkok. Thailand has summoned the Iranian ambassador for clarification. This step has been taken following an incident on Wednesday where the Thai bulk carrier 'Mauri Nari' exploded after being hit by an unidentified projectile near the Strait of Hormuz.

Thai news agencies have reported that the ambassador will be questioned about the attack on the vessel. According to information provided by the government on Thursday, three Thai crew members are still missing after the ship caught fire following the explosion. It is presumed that these members were on duty in the engine room of the ship when the explosion occurred.

Following the incident, other crew members abandoned the ship using a life boat. Rescue teams subsequently reported safely rescuing 20 crew members. In the last two days, at least six ships around the Strait of Hormuz have reportedly become targets of unidentified projectiles. The number of ships targeted since the start of the Iran conflict has reached 13.
