Escalating Attacks Target Vessels in Gulf Region Amid Rising Middle East Tensions

Tehran. Amid rising war tensions in the Middle East, attacks on ships in the Gulf region have intensified. According to the UK Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO), the UK's maritime security monitoring agency, at least 13 ships were targeted in attacks between February 28 and March 11 in the Arabian Gulf, the Strait of Hormuz, and the Gulf of Oman.

Meanwhile, two more ships were attacked near the Umm Qasr port on Wednesday night. This port is near the city of Basra. According to the Iraqi Port Authority, one person died and 38 people were injured in the incident.

Separately, UKMTO reported another ship attack, stating that a container ship north of Jebel Ali was struck by an unknown projectile. According to information provided by the ship's captain, a small fire broke out on the vessel following the strike.
