US Reportedly Responsible for Missile Strike on Iranian School Due to 'Incorrect Targeting,' New York Times Cites Officials

Kathmandu. The New York Times reported on Wednesday, citing American officials, that a Tomahawk missile struck an Iranian school due to 'incorrect targeting' and that the United States is responsible for the incident.

The Times stated that while the investigation into the February 28 attack is ongoing, the preliminary conclusion is that the US is responsible.

"The school building was hit because target coordination was determined using outdated data during the US military's attack on a nearby Iranian base," the report stated, basing this on the statements of American officials.

Earlier this week, US President Donald Trump had suggested that Iran might be responsible for the school attack, but later stated he would accept whatever the investigation revealed.

The primary school in the southern Iranian city of Minab was struck during the initial attack jointly launched by the US-Israel. It is reported that more than 150 people died in the incident.
