Police File Attempted Murder Case Against Eight in Rautahat Assault on Dalit Family

Rautahat. Police have filed a case of attempted murder against eight individuals involved in the brutal assault on six people, including two women, in the Dalit (Chamar) tole of Santapur, Fatuwa Vijayapur Municipality-5, on Falgun 19.

Police Inspector Surendra Yadav of the Area Police Office, Vijayapur Laxminiya, informed that the case was registered today based on the complaint filed by the victim, Birjaram Chamar, against those allegedly involved in the incident. According to him, Pasindra Yadav, alleged to be involved in the incident, has been arrested.

Police Inspector Yadav stated that the search for the other accused is ongoing. The arrested Yadav is being held in custody by the Area Police Office, Vijayapur Laxminiya, with a seven-day remand extended for police investigation.

The victim's side alleges that on Falgun 19, during the Holi celebrations, following a minor dispute, a group led by local Bhuneshwor Yadav entered Birjaram Chamar's house armed with sticks and rods and brutally assaulted them. Birjaram Chamar stated that during the assault, six people, including his wife and daughter who were inside the house, were severely beaten, household items were vandalized, and two mobile phones were smashed.

As a result of the beating, Birjaram Chamar sustained injuries to his back and neck, while his wife, Gayatridevi Ram, suffered bruises all over her body. Chamar's son, Rajkumar Ram, suffered a head injury, and Subba Ram's 16-year-old daughter reportedly suffered a fractured skull.
