Iranian President's Son Claims New Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei is Safe Amid Injury Rumors

Tehran. Amid circulating reports that Iran's new Supreme Leader, Mojtaba Khamenei, was injured during the war, the Iranian President's son has claimed that he is safe and healthy. This claim was made against the backdrop of the ongoing conflict with Israel and the United States.

Yousef Pezeshkian, the Iranian President's son and a government advisor, commented on Mojtaba Khamenei's condition via his Telegram channel on Wednesday, stating that he had also heard reports of Khamenei being injured but that they were unconfirmed. According to him, upon inquiring with some contacts, they informed him that Khamenei is safe and healthy.

“I had heard reports that Mojtaba Khamenei was injured. I asked some friends I am in contact with. They told me that by the grace of God, he is safe and healthy,” Pezeshkian wrote on social media.

Previously, state television had referred to Khamenei as a “wounded veteran of the Ramadan War,” but no clear details were provided regarding when or how he was injured.

Mojtaba Khamenei is the son and successor of Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, the long-serving Supreme Leader of the Islamic Republic. Mojtaba was put forward as the new Supreme Leader following the death of Ayatollah Ali Khamenei in a joint US-Israel attack on Iran on February 28. Widespread war in the Middle East began immediately after that incident.

Fifty-six-year-old Mojtaba Khamenei is generally known as a figure rarely seen in public life. It is reported that he seldom appears at public events and rarely speaks at official functions.

Even after being declared the Supreme Leader on Sunday, he has not given a formal address to the nation. Furthermore, no written statement has been released from him so far, which has helped fuel various speculations about his condition.

Meanwhile, a report published by the American newspaper The New York Times on Wednesday cited three unnamed Iranian officials who mentioned that Mojtaba Khamenei was injured. According to that report, he sustained an injury to his leg, but it was stated that he was conscious and residing in an extremely secure location with limited communication.
