Anti-Graft Body Files Corruption Case Against Police ASI for Using Fake Certificates for Promotion

Kathmandu. The Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) has filed a corruption case at the Special Court in Kathmandu against Police Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Mukta Narayan Shrestha on charges of obtaining promotion by submitting fake educational certificates.

The CIAA stated that Shrestha, who was working at the Communication Branch of the District Police Office, Sunsari, submitted fake marksheet and migration certificate, allegedly issued in 1999 by the Central Board of Secondary Education in Delhi, India, to get promoted to the ASI post.

The CIAA statement issued on Tuesday mentioned that after confirming that he received salary, allowances, and other benefits from the Government of Nepal based on the false and fake certificates, the Commission filed the charge sheet demanding imprisonment and a fine under Section 16(1) of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 2059.
