Ranjita Darnal of Rastriya Swatantra Party Wins Kathmandu-1 Seat

Kathmandu. Ranjana Darnal of the Rastriya Swatantra Party has secured a victory in Kathmandu 1. She won with 15,455 votes, while other candidates could not even come close to competing. She defeated her nearest competitor by a margin of 9,091 votes.

The Nepali Congress came in second even in the constituency considered the safest within the valley. The Congress failed to maintain the results of the previous two elections. Congress candidate Prabal Thapa came in second with 6,364 votes. In the previous election, Prakash Man Singh had won with 7,143 votes.

Similarly, CPN-UML's Mohanraj Regmi received 1,618 votes. In 2079, Kiran Poudel, who contested from the same seat, came in third with 3,532 votes.

Likewise, CPN candidate Menuka Bhandari received 345 votes, even though her election mobilization committee had 501 members. She did not receive all the votes even from the mobilization committee formed under the convenorship of Amaradhwaj Lama by her party. In this constituency, Samir Lama of the Shram Sanskriti Party received 426 votes, which is more than the votes received by the CPN.
