Dozens of CPN-UML Leaders and Cadres Resign in Okhaldhunga, Join Rival Communist Party

Kathmandu. Thirty-eight leaders and cadres, including the Chairman, Vice-Chairman, and Secretary of the CPN-UML's Okhaldhunga district committee, have left the party.

The district committee leaders, including Chairman Jibi Khadka, announced their resignation at a press conference in Kathmandu on Friday.

Furthermore, those who left the CPN-UML joined the Communist Party of Nepal (CPN) on the same Friday. They were welcomed by Coordinator Pushpa Kamal Dahal 'Prachanda' and Co-coordinator Madhav Nepal.

The group became disgruntled after CPN-UML nominated Asmita Thapa as its candidate for the House of Representatives election from Okhaldhunga.

Previously, on the day of candidacy nomination, Ambir Babu Gurung also left the CPN-UML and became a candidate from the CPN.
