Nepal's first female judge Shrestha passes away

Kathmandu, February 28 — Nepal's first female judge, Sharada Shrestha, has passed away at the age of 83.

She passed away early Friday morning at the Nepal Police Hospital in Maharajgunj, where she had been receiving treatment as confirmed by Nirajan Pandey, the spokesperson for the Supreme Court.

Pandey mentioned, "She had been ill for a long time and was undergoing treatment in the hospital."

Shrestha's last rites are scheduled to take place at Pashupati Aryaghat after 4 PM on Friday.

Sharada Shrestha made history in 1966 when she became Nepal's first female judge by joining the Land Reform Special Court.
