118 Nepali peacekeepers depart for Central African Republic

Kathmandu, February 24 — A team of 118 Nepali peacekeepers has departed for the Central African Republic (CAR) to replace the 6th Battalion deployed as part of the UN peacekeeping mission.

The soldiers belong to the 7th Battalion of the Nepal Army’s Repumardan Battalion.

They were sent to continue the mission under the UN's multi-dimensional stabilization effort in the region.

The peacekeepers, led by Major Kapil Kumar Singh, departed from Nepal on a United Nations-chartered aircraft.

This deployment is aimed at relieving the personnel of the 6th Battalion, who had completed their tenure.

Earlier, 116 Nepali peacekeepers of the 6th Battalion, led by Major Dipesh Rana Magar, returned to Nepal after completing their mission.

With this new team of 118 soldiers, the total number of Nepali peacekeepers currently active in the mission stands at 1,244.
