Suspicious death of APF Inspector under investigation

Kathmandu, February 24 — A complaint has been filed with the police regarding the suspicious death of Armed Police Force (APF) Inspector Santoshi Mahat.

She was found hanging at the APF Training College in Lamapatan, Pokhara, on Saturday night.

The family of the deceased has filed a complaint at the District Police Office, Kaski, accusing a senior inspector of forcing her to commit suicide.

According to an official from the Kaski District Police Office, the complaint has been filed against a male inspector working with the Armed Police Force's Number-23 Mankamana Battalion in Bhanu, Tanahun.

The accused inspector is alleged to have coerced Santoshi into suicide. Sources within the APF indicate that the two were in a romantic relationship.

Her body has been sent to the Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital in Kathmandu for post-mortem, as confirmed by APF spokesperson (DIG) Kumar Neupane.

To investigate the incident, the APF Headquarters has formed an inquiry committee led by a DIG. The committee is headed by DIG Laxman Singh of the Academy.

Inspector Santoshi Mahat had risen through the ranks, having served as a Constable and Assistant Sub-Inspector before becoming an Inspector.
