Nepal-India Drama Festival set to take place in Kathmandu

Kathmandu, January 31 — The Nepal-India Drama Festival is set to take place in Kathmandu from February 5 to 12.

The event is being organized by the Nepal Academy of Music and Drama in collaboration with the National School of Drama, India. 

During a press event held in the capital on Thursday, the Academy's Chair, Nisha Sharma, shared details about the festival. The event will feature six plays, three from Nepal and three from India, which will be performed at the Rashtriya Nachghar.

Sharma emphasized that this is the first-ever collaboration between Nepal and India for such a festival.

The plays from Nepal will include 'Gachhami', written by CK Lal and directed by Sunil Pokharel, 'Katha Kasturi' by Nayanraj Pandey, directed by Diya Maske, and 'Play Joon-More-Than A Fairy Tale' by Samyog Guragain, directed by Namrata KC.

Indian plays include 'Mai Ri Mai Kaha Se Hoon' by Vijaydan Detha, directed by Ajay Kumar, 'Babuji' by Mithileshwar, directed by Vibanshu Vaibhav, and 'TajMmahal Ka Tendar' by Ajay Shukla, directed by Chitranjan Tripathy.

The festival aims to foster cultural exchange between the two nations, bringing together theater lovers from both Nepal and India to celebrate the rich traditions of drama and performance.

The event has garnered support from various cultural figures, including the Academy's vice chancellor, Shambhu Rai.
