Plough Revolution Day in Lamjung
Besisahar - The Lamjung district is marking the 68th Plough Revolution Day today with a literary programme.
The event is being organized by Plough Revolution Nepal and Toyanath Memorial Academy at Archalyani of Duradanda.
It is celebrated to mark the day when individuals representing the Bhramin caste ploughed the field with the tool to end 'Bhramanism' and caste – based racism.
On July 26, 1949, a total of 27 individuals representing the Bhramin caste ploughed the field which is said to be the first of its kind in Nepal. The then government on July 26, 1950 arrested the men and jailed.
