Four dead in traffic accidents across Nepal

Kathmandu, January 2 — At least four people have died in separate traffic accidents across various locations in Nepal, according to the Nepal Police.

In Kathmandu, a pedestrian named Sabina Ghale, 25, from Jhapa's Damak Municipality, was struck by a mini tipper truck (number plate: Ba 3 Kha 3344) at Mahadev Khola in Tarkeshwor Municipality-7. The accident, which occurred on Thursday morning, also involved her 3-year-old son, Dipshan Kumar Dhimal, who died from his injuries at the National Trauma Center after being critically injured. The truck driver has been taken into police custody.

In Rupandehi, a pedestrian, an unidentified woman aged approximately 50 years, was killed in a collision with a microbus (number plate: Lu 1 Kha 8559) at the Chauraha Chowk in Butwal Sub-Municipality-10. The woman sustained serious injuries and died during treatment at Lumbini Provincial Hospital, Butwal. The bus driver has also been taken into police custody.

In Nawalparasi West, a 25-year-old man named Suresh Chaudhary from Mayadevi-5, Rupandehi, was crushed by a crane at the Lakshmi Steel Factory in Sunwal Municipality-7, during his work. He was seriously injured and later died at Devdaha Medical College in Bhaluhi, Rupandehi. The crane driver is currently on the run, and the police are searching for him.

In Dang, a 70-year-old pedestrian named Tek Bahadur Giri from Tulsipur Sub-Metropolitan City-6 was killed after being struck by a truck (number plate: Lu 1 Kha 6893) at B.P. Chowk. Giri was critically injured and later passed away during treatment at a nursing home in Nepalgunj. The truck driver has been arrested.

Police are conducting investigations into these accidents.
