Jumla's Kanakasundari rural municipality starts MBBS scholarships

Jumla, November 7 — The Kanakasundari Rural Municipality of Jumla has started offering scholarships for students pursuing MBBS. The rural municipality has implemented a policy to provide 50% of the total cost as a scholarship to MBBS students, as announced by the chairperson, Damodar Acharya.

Since last year, Printa Hamal, a resident of Kanakasundari Rural Municipality-5, has been receiving 50% scholarship support from the municipality while studying MBBS at Nepalgunj Medical College. She is currently in her second year. The total cost for MBBS studies is around NPR 4.6 million, and the rural municipality has provided NPR 2.3 million as scholarship assistance to Printa, as per Chairperson Acharya.

According to the rural municipality's information officer, Netra Bahadur Khatri, students who receive this scholarship are required to serve the rural municipality for two years after completing their medical education. 

Additionally, Kanakasundari Rural Municipality-3’s Kalpana Budha has also been granted a scholarship of NPR 100,000 as encouragement for her MBBS studies. Kalpana is currently studying at KIST College in Lalitpur.

Similarly, Bivek Budhwal from Kanakasundari Rural Municipality-5, who is studying BDS (Bachelor of Dental Surgery) at BP Koirala Institute of Health Sciences in Dharan, has also received NPR 100,000 as financial assistance from the rural municipality.
