Kanti Lokpath reopens after flood repairs
Hetauda, October 8 — The Kanti Lokpath route for short-distance travel to Kathmandu has been reopened. This follows repairs to the access road at the Bagmati Bridge, which connects Makwanpur and Lalitpur.
According to Ratnalakshmi Bajracharya, the chief planner of Kanti Lokpath, the road was opened after the access route to the Baguwa Bridge over the Bagmati River connecting Lalitpur and Makwanpur was restored.
She mentioned that vehicles will be fully operational on the Kanti Lokpath from this afternoon. Although traffic has been generally open, there are still some filling works remaining on the access route towards Lalitpur, which is currently ongoing.
The heavy rains on September 27 and 28 had caused significant issues for traffic due to the flooding of the access route from Makwanpur to the Baguwa Bridge under the Kanti Lokpath. Today marks the reopening of Kanti Lokpath after about ten days of disruption.
Ratnalakshmi Bajracharya confirmed that traffic has resumed after repairing the sections washed away by the floods in the Bagmati River. She stated that while the repair work was completed last night, some minor filling tasks are still pending for the access route towards Lalitpur, and that vehicle movement will be fully open from this afternoon.
