Police arrests another suspect in Bhainsepati honey trap case

Kathmandu, October 6 — The police have arrested another person for allegedly extorting money from a real estate agent in a honey trap in Bhainsepati, Lalitpur. The arrested individual is Bhimadevi Thapa, who is from Itahari in Sunsari.

According to an official from the District Police Office, Lalitpur, she was arrested in Itahari and brought to Kathmandu. Previously, Susma BK and Taj Mool Islam, also from Itahari, were arrested on the same charges of extorting money by threatening the businessperson with a rape case.

Involved in the incident, Darshan Pokharel from Itahari is currently absconding. The District Police Office, Lalitpur, is investigating them for criminal gains. The group has extorted 3 million rupees from a lreal estate agent in a small village in Lalitpur. Police investigations have revealed that 2 million rupees in cash were deposited into Bhimadevi Thapa's account in two installments.

The agent has also accused Inspector Binu Shahi of the Bhainsepati police division of colluding to extort money from him. Based on the recommendations of the investigation committee led by DSP Narahari Adhikari, Inspector Shahi has been suspended. On Friday evening, Home Secretary Gokarnamani Duwadi made the decision to suspend Shahi.

Additionally, 19-year-old Susma BK, who lives in Itahari and is originally from Dhankuta, filed a complaint on September 22, stating that a man had verbally abused and threatened her at the Bhainsepati police division. Inspector Shahi stated that after the complaint was received, they summoned both parties for discussion. During the investigation, Shahi said, “We had resolved the matter and left together; I had no knowledge of any financial transactions.”
