2 policemen killed in S. Afghan car bombing
LASHKAR GAH, Afghanistan - At least two Afghan police personnel were killed and two others injured after a suicide car bombing struck a border police outpost in southern Helmand province on Wednesday, provincial government spokesman said.
The incident occurred at round 8:30 a.m. local time in Sayyed Abad locality, Nad Ali district, western side of provincial capital Lashkar Gah city, Omar Zwak told Xinhua.
"A Taliban militant detonated an explosive-laden mini-truck at the front gate of the outpost which also homes a joint Afghan security forces' control and command operating center, leaving the casualties," Zwak said.
The blast also damaged the outpost in the province notorious for poppy growing and militancy, 555 km south of Kabul.
Casualties of the Afghan security forces have risen since the beginning of 2015 when Afghan soldiers and police assumed full responsibilities of security from the United States and NATO troops.
