Kathmandu, September 19 — Dharahara in Sundhara has been opened to the public. The government has made this available starting Thursday in honor of Constitution Day.
The newly constructed Dharahara can accommodate 500 visitors at a time and currently has free entry. It was built next to the Bhimsen Stambha, which collapsed during the devastating earthquake on April 25, 2015.
Although opened on Constitution Day, the construction of Dharahara is not yet fully complete. The Ministry of Urban Development has stated that only 98% of the structure has been finished so far. Despite the incomplete construction, it was inaugurated on April 24, 2021, during the tenure of then-Prime Minister KP Oli.
As the government opened the site, the public was seen queuing to visit from early Thursday morning. The ministry has announced that entry will remain free until further arrangements are made.
