SGNHC to provide free health check-up to national players
Kathmandu, September 10 — The Sahid Gangalal National Heart Centre (SGNHC) will provide health check-up services to the national players free of cost.
An agreement was signed to conduct free health check-ups including the cardiac tests of all players annually contributing to international games representing the nation.
At a programme organized here today, the National Sports Council and Centre signed the agreement to this effect in the presence of Minister for Health and Population, Pradeep Paudel, and Minister for Youth and Sports, Teju Lal Chaudhary.
The Centre would manage funds required for the same from its own source. The agreement would be renewed every year.
On the occasion, Minister Paudel expressed commitment to ensure more sources for next year to run a heath examination programme for players.
Sharing that lack of treatment expense is one of the reasons behind the brain drain of players, Minister Chaudhary expressed the belief that 757 players of national teams would benefit from it.
The programme was inaugurated by conducting a health test of Nepal's first Paralympic medalist, Palesha Goverdhan.
