One-Way Traffic resumes at Nagdhunga

Kathmandu, August 21 - One-way traffic has been resumed after the debris from a landslide was cleared in Nagdhunga, Chandragiri Municipality-2 of Kathmandu.

According to the Police Circle Thankot, the road was opened to one-way traffic starting at 5:00 pm. Vehicles that were previously stranded in the lower area of Nagdhunga are now beginning to move towards Kathmandu. However, there is a long line of vehicles, so it may take some time to alleviate the congestion.

The landslide, which started at around 10:30 am on Wednesday, was exacerbated by ongoing rain, causing delays in clearing the road. This disruption has affected traffic on the Kathmandu-Naubise route.

Deputy Superintendent of Police Suryaprakash Subedi of Thankot police circle warned that additional rain could lead to further landslides and roadblocks. Clearing operations are being conducted with the help of three excavators.

Subedi advised against traveling to the affected area today due to the uncertainty of further closures.

The landslide occurred near Nag Mandir, a few hundred meters from Nagadhunga Chowk, causing a complete standstill for all vehicles entering and leaving Kathmandu throughout the day. Although rainfall has decreased, Nagdhunga police are redirecting vehicles heading towards Kathmandu and stopping incoming vehicles at 'Piplamode,' causing significant disruption for passengers.
