Attention drawn for establishing consular office in Dallas, Texas

Texas (United States of America): An initiative has started in favor of establishing an embassy service office (consular office) in Dallas, Texas, in the United States.

Various organizations active in Texas have been requesting the Nepal government to establish a consular office in Dallas, Texas, where there is a dense population of Nepali diaspora.

The Nepali society and Nepali diaspora community in Texas and the Nepali Public Liaison Committee close to the Nepali Congress and the Diaspora Nepali Forum close to the CPN (UML) have again requested the Nepal government to arrange a consular office in Dallas in view of the fact that the location of the Nepali embassy is far from Texas.

Bijay Bhusal, Secretary General of the Nepali Society of Texas, said that although the Nepali Embassy in Washington, sometimes conducts consular service camps, there is a consensus among the expatriate Nepali community in favor of establishing a consular office in Dallas, as it is uncomfortable due to lack of time and the pressure of Nepalis taking the service there.

According to Bhusal, the Nepalis community living in 15 states including Texas, Oklahoma, New Mexico and more will benefit directly if a consular office is established in Dallas, Texas.

General Secretary Bhusal complained that the Nepali Society of Texas has been taking initiatives for the establishment of a consular office for two years, but due to the problem of changing the government in Nepal, the demands of Nepali migrants have not been addressed so far.

Bhusal also informed that after the new government was formed in Nepal, he submitted a memorandum to Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli, Finance Minister Bishnu Paudel, Foreign Secretary Seva Lamsal for the establishment of a consular office in the Mid-July on behalf of the expatriate Nepali community in Texas.

Likewise, the Nepali Public Liaison Committee Texas, close to the Nepali Congress, and Pravasi Nepali Manch Texas, close to the CPN (UML), have also made it clear that they have taken initiatives politically and administratively for the establishment of consular offices.
