UN Secretary-General Guterres arrives in Nepal

KATHMANDU, Oct 29: The Secretary-General of the United Nations, Antonio Guterres, arrived in Kathmandu on Saturday night for a four-day Nepal visit after the invitation from Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’. He was welcomed at the Tribhuwan International Airport by the Minister of Foreign Affairs Narayan Prasad Saud.

On Sunday, the first day of the visit, Secretary-General Guterres is scheduled to have a courtesy meeting with the top leaders, including the President and the Prime Minister. After the meeting, he will also visit the Patan Durbar Square area, a heritage site of historical and archaeological importance.

Prime Minister Dahal will host a dinner with a cultural program on Sunday evening in honour of Secretary-General Guterres. 

He is scheduled to visit Namche, Pokhara, Annapurna base camp and Lumbini on Monday. According to the Parliament Secretariat, he will address the joint meeting of the Federal Parliament on Tuesday, the 31st of October, at 4 p.m.
