SAFF U-19 Championship: Nepal loses to Pakistan at home

KATHMANDU, Sep 21: The Nepalese team lost to Pakistan in their first match of the U-19 SAFF Championship tournament. The home team lost by 1-0 in the match played at Dashrath Stadium in Tripureshwor on Thursday evening.

The first half of the match ended in a goalless draw. However, Pakistan took the lead in the second half after Ali Zafar scored a goal in the 76th minute of the match.

Earlier today, in the first match of the tournament, India blew out Bangladesh by 3-0. With these wins, Pakistan and India are on top of their respective groups.

There are 6 teams participating in the SAFF tournament this year. India and Bangladesh are both in the Group 'B' alongside Bhutan. Host Nepal, Maldives and Pakistan are in the Group 'A' in the tournament. Two teams from each group will enter the semi-finals of the competition.
