ICC Women's T20 World Cup Asia Qualifier: Thailand defeats Nepal
KATHMANDU, Sep 8: Thailand defeated Nepal in the first semi-final match played today under the ICC Women's Twenty-20 World Cup Asia Region Qualifier. Thailand beat Nepal by 46 runs in the match held in Malaysia on Friday.
Nepal, who was given a target of 106 runs for victory by Thailand, could only make 59 runs before being all out in 19.3 overs. Kabita Kunwar made 11 runs for Nepal while Apsari Begum and Kabita Joshi contributed 10 runs each. Other Nepalese batters could not make runs in double digits.
nnicha Kamchomphu and Thipatcha Putthawong each took three wickets for Thailand, while Nattaya Boochatham took two wickets, and Phannita Maya and Sunida Chaturongrattana took one wicket each.
Thailand, who was invited to bat first after losing the toss, made 105 runs in the allotted 20 overs at the loss of two wickets. For Thailand, Nannapat Koncharoenkai scored the highest unbeatable 59 runs, including four fours, in 63 balls, while Natthakan Chantham made 31 runs and Chanida Sutthiruang made an unbeatable 11 runs.
Kabita Kunwar and Puja Mahato took one wicket each for Nepal.
With this, Thailand has reached the final of the tournament and Nepal's dream of reaching the World Cup Global Qualifiers has been crushed.
