FNJ RSS chapter announces awards, Mahato and Gautam selected for journalism award

Kathmandu - The Federation of Nepali Journalists (FNJ), National News Agency (RSS) chapter has decided to present this year's the 'RSS Journalism Award- 2074 BS' to RSS executive editor Sheetal Prasad Mahato (Nepali desk) and to assistant editor Madan Gautam (Nepali desk).
A meeting of the chapter held few days ago took a decision to this end.
The annual award carries a purse of Rs 10,000 each and a letter of felicitation. The chapter constituted a five-member award recommendation committee under the convenorship of RSS editor-in-chief Raju Shakya and the decision was made on the basis of recommendations given by the same committee which comprised FNJ RSS chair Narayan Prasad Ghimire, joint-secretary Avilasha Pokhrel, English desk chief Deep Raj Sanyal and Chief reporter Surya Chandra Basnet, according to the chapter.
The award winners are selected on the basis of work performance, seniority (at least worked at RSS for 15 years) and inclusion criteria.
Likewise, RSS former editor Gokul Prasad Pokhrel is to be awarded the 'RSS former employee honour'. The FNJ RSS chapter has been honouring its former employees with this honour every year.
Similarly, RSS stringer in Bajura, Prem Raule, has been nominated for the 'Umakanta- Geetadevi- Chandramani Memorial Award.' The prize carrying the purse of Rs 5,000 was instituted by RSS journalist Narayani Rajaure (chief of RSS Rapti Zonal office, Dang) in memory of her the late father Umakantaa Rajaure, mother Geetadevi Rajaure and younger brother Chandaramani Rajaure.
The annual award is presented to one moffusil stringer on the basis of work performance and a three-member committee comprising FNJ treasurer Narayan Prasad Neupane, member Shyam Prasad Rimal and Nepali desk sub-editor Bikram Giri was formed to make recommendation for the award.
All these awards will be presented on coming February 19 amidst a special ceremony on the occasion of the RSS 57th anniversary.
