ICC Women's T20 World Cup Asia Qualifier: Nepal registers third consecutive victory
KATHMANDU, Sep 3: Nepal has registered a third straight victory in the ICC Women's T20 World Cup Asia Qualifiers by defeating Bhutan by three wickets in a match today.
In the match held at Kuala Lumpur-based YSD-UKM stadium, Nepal secured a victory over Bhutan and with this, it collected six points, boosting its chances of reaching the semi-final. In the previous two matches, the Nepalese women's cricket team secured a win against the host Malaysia by five runs and against Bahrain by 10 wickets.
Nepal met the meagre target of 40 runs given by Bhutan, in 13.2 overs at the loss of seven wickets. Team captain Rubina Chhetry Belbase played with 12 not out while other players failed to hit double-digit runs.
Similarly, Bhutan's bowlers Anjali Ghale and Tshering Zangmo took two wickets each while Sonam Chhoden and Anju Gurung took one wicket each.
Having lost the toss, Bhutan was invited to bat first. Bhutan's team captain, Dechen Wangmo scored 21 runs while other players could not pull a double-digit run.
Nepal's Puja Mahato dismissed three batters while Kabita Kunwar, Khusi Dangol and Rubina took one wicket each. Nepal will be meeting with Qatar for its fourth match on Monday.
