Pakistan handily beats Nepal in Asia Cup
KATHMANDU, Aug 30: Pakistan defeated Nepal by 238 runs in the opening match of the Asia Cup cricket tournament.
Pakistan, the host of the tournament, scored 342 runs after winning the toss and deciding to bat first.
They only lost 6 wickets during their over. On the other hand, Nepal only scored 104 runs before being bowled out in 23.4 overs. Nepal will now play its second match against India on September 3 in Kandy, Sri Lanka.
The 16th edition of the Asia Cup started on Wednesday today. The matches of the tournament will be played in different stadiums in Pakistan and Sri Lanka. Nepal is participating in the Asia Cup for the first time this year.
Meanwhile, Pakistan is participating for the 14th time in the Asia Cup. Pakistan, a former winner of the ODI World Cup, is also a two-time Asian champion.
In the ICC ODI rankings, Pakistan is ranked first and Nepal is ranked 15th.
