KATHMANDU, Aug 30: The Union Cabinet has joined in celebrating the historic success of the Chandrayaan-3 Mission to the Moon. The Indian Cabinet has named 23rd August as the "National Space Day" to appreciate the monumental achievement of their scientists.

The Cabinet has also congratulated the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) for its efforts. India has become the first country to land near the Moon’s south pole. The Cabinet has said that landing on the moon in itself was a momentous achievement let alone landing near the South Pole.

Congratulating the global scientific achievement, the Cabinet has praised the dedication and expertise of India's scientists. The Cabinet has expressed that the scientists' analytical prowess, combined with a fervent commitment to inquiry and exploration, has cemented India's reputation on the international stage and inspired countless others to dream big and contribute to the vast tapestry of global knowledge.

It praises the diversity of the scientists as a large number of women scientists have contributed to the success of Chandrayaan-3 and other space programmes. It says that this achievement will motivate several aspiring women scientists for years to come.

The Cabinet has also congratulated Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi for his leadership and his commitment to India’s space programmes. Prime Minister Modi has been serving as the head of a Government for 22 years, first in the state of Gujrat and later as the Prime Minister. He was serving as a Chief Minister when the mission was announced by former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee.

The Cabinet has said that India's advancements in the space sector represent a vision of progress, self-reliance, and global leadership. It says - "This is also a symbol of rising New India. We urge our fellow citizens to leverage these strides to create more opportunities across industries, from satellite communication and meteorology to agriculture and disaster management."

"We should work to ensure that our innovations have direct applications on the ground, enhancing our infrastructure, boosting our digital economy, and providing critical data to various sectors", says the Cabinet.

The Cabinet has expressed its confidence that the people of India will dedicate themselves to building India into a Developed Nation by 2047.
