Asia Cup Cricket 2023: Pakistan batting first against Nepal

KATHMANDU, Aug 30: In the opening match of the Asia Cup, Pakistan has chosen to bat first against Nepal after winning the toss.

The 16th edition of the Asia Cup cricket tournament is starting from today. The Asia Cup matches will be played in different stadiums of Pakistan and Sri Lanka till September 17.

Nepal is participating in the Asia Cup for the first time, while it is Pakistan's 14th participation in the Asia Cup. Pakistan, who is also the former champion of ODI World Cup, has won the title of Asia Cup twice so far.

Compared to Nepal, Pakistan is also a powerful Test nation with a much longer history in international cricket. Even now, there are many world cricket records in the name of Pakistani players.

Just before the start of the Asia Cup, Pakistan has risen to the top spot in the ICC ODI rankings. Nepal, however, is on the 15th position in the ICC ODI rankings. This time, among the 6 countries participating in the Asia Cup, Nepal is in the lowest ranking. 

Apart from this, Pakistan has gotten the opportunity to play the tournament at its home ground in Multan, while the stadium is new for Nepal.
