8 dead in Thailand due to rail accident

BANGKOK, Aug 5: Eight people are reported to have died in a train accident in Thailand. 

According to media reports, the accident was caused by a freight train colliding with a pickup truck that was crossing the rail track.

Three women and five men were among the dead according to media reports. Four other people were also injured in the accident

The state railways informed that a freight train hit a truck while crossing railway tracks in Thailand's Chachangsao province on Friday afternoon.

One person injured in the accident is reported to be in critical condition.
