17 Nepalese missing due to landslides in Uttarakhand India
SURKHET, Aug 4: Seventeen Nepalese have gone missing after being swept by a landslide in Gaurikund in Uttarakhand state of India.
Among the people who went missing, 10 are reported to be from Humla and 7 from Jumla. Chandra Kami from Jumla, his son Lal Bahadur Kami, Sukhara Rawat and his son Jora Rawat are among the missing.
A landslide swept away a hotel in Gaurikund, which was run by a person named Bir Bahadur from Humla.
According to Dainik Jagran, the hotel owner Bir Bahadur, his wife Sumitra, daughter Nisha and son Hari Bahadur have also gone missing due to the landslide. Their surnames are yet to be disclosed.
Dharmaraj Budha and his son Man Bahadur Budha, who were having dinner at Bir Bahadur's hotel, are also reported to be missing.
Similarly, Amar Bohara, his sons Man Bahadur, Prithvi, Jatil and Wakil, his wife Anita and daughters Radhika and Pinky are also reportedly missing due to the landslide. Their residence is yet to be disclosed.
Uttarakhand Police have informed that they are continuing their search for the missing people. They also mentioned that they are facing difficulty in the search and rescue due to heavy rainfall in the area.
Most of the injured people from Karnali had gone to India for employment. It is reported that 17 of the 19 missing people are Nepalese.
