Sweden and South Africa enter Pre-Quarterfinal

Aug 2: Sweden beat Argentina to make it three wins from three at the Women's World Cup, securing the top spot in Group G.

After a fiercely contested hour, Sweden's extra quality shone through, with Rebecka Blomqvist finding space in the box to power home Sofia Jakobsson's cross from close range.

Elin Rubensson put the result beyond doubt with a coolly taken late penalty after Blomqvist had been fouled in the box as Argentina sought to defend a free-kick.

Argentina is out of the tournament having finished bottom of the group with one point.

Meanwhile, South Africa also reached the last 16 after claiming their first Women's World Cup win with a thrilling 3-2 victory over Italy in Wellington.

The match between South Africa and Italy was very thrilling. Ariana Caruso scored the first goal in the 11th minute of the match. In the 32nd minute, Italy's Benedetta scored an own goal and the match was tied at 1-1.

In the 67th minute of the scheduled time, Hildah Magaia gave South Africa a 2-1 lead, which was again leveled in the 74th minute by Italy's Arianna Caruso.

Then, in the second minute of injury time of the second half, Thembi Kgatlana scored a fabulous goal to send South Africa to the knockout stage. Had the match ended in a tie, Italy would have reached the knockout stage.
