Uddhav Thapa appointed Koshi Chief Minister

BIRATNAGAR, August 1: Nepal Congress Koshi Parliamentary Party leader, Uddhav Thapa, has been appointed as the Chief Minister of the Koshi province.

Uddhav Thapa was previously dismissed within 22 days of becoming a Chief Minister for using the Speaker’s signature to form the Provincial government.

Province Chief Parshuram Khapung appointed Thapa as the Chief Minister in accordance with Clause 3 of Article 168 of the Constitution.

Chief Minister Thapa’s appointment was supported by Nepal Congress, the Maoist Centre, the Unified Socialists and Janata Samajwadi Party (JSP).

The appointment of Thapa was supported by 29 MPs from Congress, 13 from Maoists, 4 from Socialists and 1 from JSP.
