Italy upsets Argentina after late game-winner
NEW ZEALAND, July 24: Italy managed to steal a victory over defensive-minded Argentina after a grueling battle in the Women's World Cup.
The game was concluded with 1-0 score after a late-game header was scored by Italian veteran Cristiana Girelli in the 87th minute of the match.
Italy midfielder Giulia Dragoni, one of the youngest players in Women's World Cup history at 16, was substituted for Girelli who went on to score the only goal of the match.
In front of a crowd of 30,889 spectators, Italy's earlier goals by Arianna Caruso and Valentina Giacinti were ruled out for offside.
