Khadka appointed Acting PM during Prachanda's absence

KATHMANDU, July 22: Deputy Prime Minister and Defense Minister Purna Bahadur Khadka has been appointed the Acting Prime Minister by President Ramchandra Paudel under the recommendation of the Prime Minister. Khadka will be handling the PM's duty as Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal 'Prachanda' has left for Italy on Saturday.

Prime Minister Prachanda has left for Italy to attend the United Nations Food System Summit +2 Stocktaking Moment (UNFSS+2) to be held in Rome.

The Prime Minister is accompanied by his daughter Ganga Dahal, the Minister for Agriculture and Livestock Development Dr. Beduram Bhusal, a Member of the National Planning Commission Jay Kant Raut, and other senior government officials.

The head of the government is scheduled to address the official opening session of UNFSS+2 on July 24 in the capacity of the Chair of LDC Group, including the Plenary Sessions on the agenda of School Meals same day and Food System Transformation in Practice on July 25.
