USA thrashes Vietnam by 3-0 at Women's World Cup

AUCKLAND, July 22: The United States grab the victory against the debutants Vietnam by a blowout win of 3-0 in the Women's World Cup held in Auckland.

Sophia Smith scored two goals in the first half for the four-time world champions in front of a crowd of 41,107 fans. The third goal was scored by Captain Lindsey Horan, after an assist by Smith, in the 77th minute.

The United States is aiming for an unprecedented third consecutive world crown in the 2023 Women's World Cup hosted by Australia and New Zealand.
