ACC Men’s Emerging Teams Asia Cup: Nepal wins against UAE by 3 wickets

KATHMANDU, July 19: In their final match of the group stage of the ACC Men’s Emerging Teams Asia Cup 2023 played on Wednesday, Nepal defeated UAE by 3 wickets. Chasing a target of 158 runs in the scheduled overs, Nepal met the target at the loss of 7 wickets in 23 overs. 

Kushal Bhurtel contributed 71 runs for Nepal, Dev Khanal made 24, Sundeep Jora also made 24 runs, Gulsan Jha made 11 runs, Captain Rohit Paudel made 9 runs, Kushal Malla made 2 runs and Pratis GC made 8 runs. Nepal got an additional 10 runs.

Mohammed Faraazuddin took 5 wickets for UAE, while Muhammad Jawadullah took 2.

UAE, who chose to bat first after winning the toss, made 157 runs before becoming all-out in 44 overs. Nepali bowler Kushal Bhurtel alone took 6 wickets for Nepal, while Shyam Dhakal took 2 and Kushal Malla and Pawan Sarraf took 1 wicket each.

Opener batsman Lovepreet Singh contributed 52 runs for UAE, while Ethan D’Souza made 18 runs, Ashwanth Valthapa made 16, Aryansh Sharma 14, and Jash Giyanani made 13 runs for UAE. Other batsmen could not score runs in double digits.

Nepal won the consolation in the tournament.
