Top leaders agree to select Chairman of Parliamentary Committee
KATHMANDU, July 4: The top leaders of the three major political parties have reached an agreement to select the chairman of the parliamentary committee during a meeting on Wednesday. Party leaders including Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda, Nepal Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuwa and CPN UML Chairman KP Sharma Oli were present in the meeting at Singhadurbar.
Speaker Devraj Ghimire informed that the Leaders are committed to electing the Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee as soon as possible. "Now our attention (as the budget has been passed) has shifted towards the formation of the committee. The committee will find leadership soon," said Ghimire.
On April 28, 10 thematic committees of the House of Representatives were formed. Two weeks after the formation of the committee, the meeting of all 10 committees started on May 16. However, the committees have not been able to discuss the bill as the chairman has not been elected.
