Nepal out of title race after losing to India

KATHMANDU, June 24: Nepal’s chance of winning the title in the 14th SAFF Championship football has ended. After losing for the second time in a row, Nepal is out of the title race. The Nepal national team lost 2-0 to host nation India in their second match on Saturday.

In the first match, Nepal lost to Kuwait by 3-1 goals. SAFF Championship is the biggest competition in South Asian football. It is currently held at the Kanteerava Stadium in Bangalore, India.

Home team India scored both goals in the second half of the match. The first goal was scored by Sunil Chhetri. He scored the first goal in the 61st minute of the scheduled time. The second goal was scored by Mahesh Singh in the 70th minute of the match.

India and Kuwait will both reach the semi-finals from Group A. Kuwait defeated Pakistan 4-0 in their second match. India also defeated Pakistan by 4-0 goals in their first match. Nepal will play the last match of the group stage against Pakistan. However, both Nepal and Pakistan have been eliminated from the title race.
